17 years behind the chair

I’m Teegan Dyson. 17 years behind the chair — not through shortcuts, but through pressure, growth, and constantly pushing to be better. This book shares the side of barbering nobody talks about.

10/10, I couldn't recommend this book higher to anyone getting into the barbering industry. He's hit every little concern I'm having at the moment and I can confidently say this book is helping me become a better barber. Will definitely be keeping this on hand through my career.

This book is honestly one of the most helpful things I’ve read starting out in barbering. It’s not sugar-coated and it tells you the real side of the industry, the stuff people usually don’t say out loud. Easy to read, straight to the point and packed with advice you actually use behind the chair.

Coming from a hairdressing background into barbering this gave me a much better understanding of the barbering world, the mindset, the pressure, and the little things that matter day to day. You can tell it’s advice from someone who’s genuinely been through it, not just textbook information.

If you’re new to barbering or making the switch from hairdressing like I did, this is definitely worth reading.

Unreal book, awesome perspective and think it's a book for any level due to being exposed to different things in this book that relate so well into barbering industry. Highly recommend this read even if you don't read books often, you won't be able to put it down.

I read Teegan’s the cutting Truth as someone who has been in the industry for 2.5 years and finished it completely in awe of its honesty and transparency of the industry itself. When I started out I had no real guidance on what to expect or had any real comparison to my journey besides the people in my shop. The shop you start in are the 4 walls that’s build your foundation but external interactions are rare. This book brought me back to the beginning of my journey, the thoughts, feelings, uncertainty and confusion of it all and I can’t recommend it enough. Teegan has shed light on some hard truths we face and highlights sides of our industry people aren’t aware of or choose to stray away from when sharing their journey.

This book would have helped me in my early days and I still take away from it having been in it to this day.

Great read and much to learn from his open and heart felt story.
